Open Up® allows you to open surgical instruments for cleaning at the touch of a button to reach all critical parts of the instrument particularly conveniently.
However, the Open Up® system from Raimund Wenzler is not only simple, but also economically and ecologically sustainable. The instruments can be reused more frequently thanks to the precise closure system, which means that no unnecessary resources and raw materials are wasted.
The Open Up® highlight: the components remain positioned as for cleaning and do not need to be reassembled individually. In addition to the Micro Kerrison rongeur punches shown here, Open Up® can also be integrated into other instruments, supporting compliance with all statutory requirements for clinical cleaning and sterilization.

No chance for germs
Aseptic cleaning of all critical areas – The Open Up® construction guarantees optimum cleaning of all surfaces. When positioned for cleaning, all components are exposed and arranged ideally for cleaning and sterilization. The critical areas where the handle moves as well as the opening mechanism are also fully flushed. In this way, Open Up® provides the basis for reliable elimination of germs.
Successfully validated – with Open Up®, cleaning and sterilization are successful, even in the most extreme cases of soiling and contamination. Moreover, you can be confident of meeting the requirements of ISO 17664 as well as the prerequisites of the RKI guidelines for hospital hygiene and infection prevention.
No room for debris
Residue-free cleaning with less wear – Residual debris contamination can compromise the functionality of surgical instruments during operations as these accumulate during the procedure. Instruments that cannot be opened for cleaning are at particular risk in that despite rinsing, debris contamination may remain in critical areas.
A further disadvantage of these instruments is that they are subject to greater wear and tear as a result of friction. The open construction of Open Up® prevents residual tissue from accumulating, ensuring reliable, labor-saving functionality of the surgical instrument – even after it has been used several times.
Protective coating
The elaborately machined surface achieves increased resistance to aggressive reprocessing that can promote corrosion and simplifies cleaning, as impurities adhere less easily. In addition, we offer various other surface coatings, such as the Raimund Wenzler Ebony coating, which have even more advantages.
The black Ebony coating offers not only an optical effect, but also concrete advantages in use: protection from disturbing reflections, so the user can work without glare. In the long term, the surface look is not affected by aggressive reprocessing.
